Settings and ownership
Keep DKReminder predictable, portable, and under your control.
Settings define app-wide defaults. Backup and restore protect your local data. Pro adds advanced creation and automation, but losing Pro never deletes your reminders.
Find the right setting
Open Settings from the main navigation. Changes here become defaults for the app; a reminder can still have its own supported schedule or alert choices.
Follow the system language or choose a supported interface language.
Review notification, exact-alarm, and full-screen access needed for dependable alerts. See what each permission changes.
Choose whether the + button opens step-by-step creation or the full form. Step-by-step presentation is Pro; the full form remains available.
Set the default delay and the minute options shown when you snooze. See how they are used during an alert.
Enable app-wide follow-up alerts, their interval, and additional count. Compare global and reminder-specific choices.
The app-wide Month overflow rule decides what happens when a shorter month does not have the selected day: use the last day of that month, use the first day of the next month, or skip the month. For reminders set to the 29th–31st, the editor can follow this rule or use a reminder-specific choice. This section also sets the app-wide rule for February 29.
Choose the app-wide alert presentation. Android permissions can still limit the result. Compare all four choices.
Choose the default sound, manual-cycle start sound, and consecutive playback count for one alert.
Enable an action for all currently sounding alerts; off by default. Choose Silence, the default Snooze time, or Done. How to use the gesture and its limits.
Pause every reminder. Occurrences skipped during the pause are not recreated automatically when you resume.
Paused alerts do not restart automatically when global pause is turned off; handle them separately in Active.
Restore the default favorite presets. This replaces the current favorite selection and order, not your reminders.
Export local data or replace it from a compatible backup file.
See the effective access source, Pro features, available subscription plans, purchase restore, and Google Play management. Learn how advance notice works.
Sign in only if you use Exchange; local reminders work while signed out.
Open the Privacy Policy. Settings also shows onboarding replay and the app version for diagnostics.
Apply an action by turning the phone face down
- Open Settings → Phone flip response, between Sound and Global pause.
- Enable Action when turned face down. It is off by default.
- Choose one action. Turning the feature off and back on keeps your selection.
- While an alert is sounding, turn the phone face down and hold it still. A stable transition is required; a brief tilt is not enough.
- Silence alert — the default selection. Stops sound and repeats for the current alert without completing or snoozing the occurrence.
- Snooze for the default time — uses the current default from Settings → Snooze; its number of minutes appears beside the option. The return time changes, while the target date, reminder schedule, and checklist marks stay unchanged.
- Mark as done — completes the current occurrence just like the Done button. Later occurrences follow the existing recurrence rules; the gesture does not mark individual checklist items.
One gesture applies the selected action to all reminder alerts currently playing sound. An Active entry or a notification left after sound ends is not a target. A sound that starts after the turn begins needs a new gesture. There are no per-reminder overrides or “one/all” choices.
If the phone was already face down before sound began, no action runs automatically. Lift it, let the position settle, and turn it over again. Holding it face down does not repeat the action; lifting it does not restart sound or undo the result. The soft manual-cycle start alert and vibration-only mode do not support this gesture.
If Snooze cannot be applied
The existing Snooze restrictions still apply. Advance, location, and daily manual-cycle alerts require Pro. In a manual cycle that measures the interval from completion, the default return must be before the control deadline and the end of the active period; a return exactly at the limit is also rejected. The delay is not shortened automatically, and rejection is not replaced with Silence.
If Snooze is unavailable for one reminder, its alert keeps sounding while the other current alerts are processed. A normal notification explains the reason. If notifications are disabled, check Active and use the buttons.
Export a backup or restore one
Create a backup
- Open Settings → Backup.
- Choose Export data.
- Select a safe destination and keep the resulting file private.
- Wait for Backup saved before leaving the app.
Restore from a file
- Before restoring, export the current state if you might need it later.
- Choose Import data and select a DKReminder backup.
- Read the replacement warning, then choose Replace data.
- Wait for the success message and review the next scheduled reminders.
Know what Exchange restore does not restart
A backup preserves supported local reminder data and historical transfer annotations. It does not contain account passwords or turn transfer history into a live account session.
- After installation on another device, active queued, sending, or failed outbound operations are not restored as automatically runnable sends.
- Sent history and received-origin annotations may remain as history, without credentials or tokens.
- Exchange account state, current permissions, Inbox, and server records are refreshed after you sign in; the local backup is not their source of truth.
- Old compatible backup versions receive safe defaults for fields that did not exist then. A newer unknown format is rejected before replacing data.
Understand the first 30 days of Pro
All current Pro features are available for 30 × 24 hours after the first successful launch of a Pro-enabled build. This is initial access, not a Google Play free trial.
- No payment method is required.
- No subscription starts automatically and there is no automatic charge when this access ends.
- The Pro screen shows the end date, and Pro choices are marked PRO from the first day.
- Restoring a backup restores the previous initial-access date; it does not create another 30 days.
Subscribe, manage, or restore a purchase
DKReminder Pro offers monthly and annual auto-renewing subscription plans through Google Play. The current localized prices and billing periods come from Google Play.
- Open Settings → DKReminder Pro.
- If the plans are shown on this screen, select one before choosing Subscribe or Change plan. If that button opens a plan-selection window, choose your plan there.
- Review the selected plan's price and renewal terms, then continue to Google Play. Check the plan, price, and billing date in Google Play before confirming.
- Use Manage subscription to view subscription details or cancel renewal in Google Play.
The selected plan applies to Subscribe or Change plan. Manage subscription opens Google Play separately and does not carry over that selection. The selected option is not proof of your current plan; check the subscription details in Google Play.
Canceling renewal does not remove Pro immediately: access continues while Google Play reports the subscription as active. A pending payment does not activate paid access.
Restore purchases
On the Pro screen, choose Restore purchases. DKReminder asks Google Play for the current purchase state; it does not create a new charge. Use the same Google Play account that owns the subscription and wait for the result.
If your version shows Purchase status updated, the check succeeded, but that message alone does not mean an active subscription was found. A result saying no active subscription was found refers to Google Play purchases, not your initial or complimentary Pro access. Restore does not restart a canceled subscription. After a subscription ends, Google Play may report that there is no subscription to manage.
What happens after Pro access ends
Your reminders, past occurrence records, structured scenario data, and saved Pro choices remain. Basic reminders, the full editor, alerts, actions, calendar, trash, presets, backup, and restore keep working.
- You cannot enable a new Pro feature or edit its Pro-owned parameters.
- Pro runtime behavior is paused where silently falling back would change the reminder's meaning.
- Basic fields can still be edited, and a Pro choice can be changed explicitly to a basic alternative.
- When access returns, preserved choices become available again and future schedules are reconciled from now; missed Pro events are not replayed in a burst.
Privacy, local data, and account deletion
Open Settings → Legal and privacy → Privacy Policy, or read the public Privacy Policy. Treat exported backup files as private because they contain your local app data.
The optional Exchange account is separate from local reminders. Deleting it removes the Exchange profile and server-side account records, but not local reminders on your device or independent copies already saved by recipients. Review the account deletion instructions first.
Troubleshooting
The backup cannot be imported
Confirm it is an unmodified DKReminder backup. If it was created by a newer app, update DKReminder. An unsupported or damaged file is rejected without intentionally replacing current data.
Pro is not restored
Check that Google Play uses the account that purchased the subscription, reconnect, then choose Restore purchases. If Google Play is temporarily unavailable, the last successfully confirmed matching access may remain until status can refresh.
The + button no longer opens step-by-step creation
Step-by-step presentation requires Pro. Your preference remains saved, but without access the + button opens the full form. Restore Pro or continue with the full editor.
Alerts changed after Pro ended
Open the reminder details and look for its PRO-marked setting. DKReminder preserves the value but may stop Pro scheduling or use an explicit documented app-wide basic setting rather than silently changing stored data.
