Reminder Exchange

Send a reminder copy without taking control of someone else's schedule.

Exchange is optional. Local reminders, settings, alerts, and backups continue to work without an account. A received reminder becomes an independent local reminder only after the recipient reviews and saves it.

Create or sign in to the optional Exchange account

Open Settings → Reminder exchange account. You can use email and password or continue with Google. An email-and-password account must verify its email address; Google Sign-In provides the verification state automatically.

  1. Choose Create account or Sign in.
  2. Use email and password, or choose Continue with Google.
  3. Set the display name other Exchange users will see.
  4. If the email is not verified, choose Send verification email, complete the step from the email, then return and choose I verified it — check again.
Expected result: the account screen shows a verified email and lets you open Reminder sending permissions. Signing out does not disable local reminders.

Sending permission is directional

A person must allow you to send reminder copies to them. Their permission does not automatically let them send copies back to you.

For example:

Olena asks Andrii for permission to send to him. After Andrii chooses Allow, Olena appears under Can send to me on his screen, while Andrii appears under I can send to on hers. Andrii still cannot send to Olena until he makes a separate request and she allows it.

  1. Open Exchange → Permissions.
  2. Choose Request permission.
  3. Enter the recipient's complete verified email address. There is no public user directory or name search.
  4. Choose Request permission to send.
  5. Wait until the recipient approves the request.

What the Permissions screen shows

Requests awaiting my response
Someone wants to send reminders to you. Choose Allow or Reject.
My requests awaiting response
Your request is still waiting. You cannot send to this person yet, and you can choose Cancel request.
I can send to
These people have allowed you to send to them. Choose Send reminder or Remove if you no longer need this direction.
Can send to me
These people may send to you. You can Revoke permission. Request in return starts a separate request so that you may send to them too.

A rejected, canceled, removed, or revoked permission is closed and no longer appears in these active lists. If the two people want to exchange reminders again, the person who wants to send must create a new request.

Pro boundary: creating a permission request requires Pro. Approving, rejecting, removing, or viewing existing permissions remains available without Pro.

Send an independent reminder copy

  1. Create a new reminder and fill in its content and schedule.
  2. At the outcome step, choose Send only or Send and save for myself.
  3. Select a recipient from your active sending permissions.
  4. Review dates, times, and portable settings, then choose Send or Save and send.
  5. Open Exchange → Sent to check whether the copy is queued, sending, sent, failed, or canceled.
Send only

Queues a copy for the recipient without creating a local reminder on your device.

Send and save for myself

Creates your local reminder and queues an independent recipient copy from the same reviewed draft.

For a location reminder, review every exact place, its name, zone size, and trigger before sending. This information stays in the Exchange record until that record is deleted.

Sent does not mean read or accepted. DKReminder does not tell the sender whether the recipient opened, rejected, edited, saved, completed, or deleted the copy.

Review Inbox and create your local copy

  1. Open Exchange → Inbox. New and processed records are listed separately.
  2. Open the received reminder and review its sender, title, schedule, time zone note, and settings.
  3. Choose Reject if you do not want it, or Create reminder to open the editor.
  4. Change any local detail you need, then save.

Saving creates a new local reminder with its own identity and lifecycle. The sender cannot edit it remotely or see what you do with it. The Inbox record remains a journal entry; saving again can create another independent copy.

Before saving a location reminder, review every place and trigger. After saving, it can wait for location only while Pro is available and the device has the required permissions and services.

Review the time zone. Dates and times originate in the sender's zone and are shown for review before you save. Sound and playback settings use your device's current defaults rather than the sender's device-specific choices.

Pro, compatibility, and preserved settings

  • Requesting permission and sending a new reminder require Pro.
  • Account management, receiving, rejecting, importing, and viewing existing permissions and journals remain available without Pro.
  • A received reminder can contain Pro settings. You may import it without Pro, but editing or running a Pro-owned setting follows the normal Pro rule.
  • If the recipient's app cannot understand a required reminder feature, DKReminder blocks the transfer or import instead of silently dropping part of the schedule.
  • Device sounds and private local identifiers are not transferred as recipient-controlled settings.

Common errors and safe checks

Sign-in or verification required

Open the Exchange account, sign in again if requested, and confirm that the email status is verified.

No available recipient

Open Permissions and confirm that the person appears under I can send to. A pending request is not yet an active permission.

Recipient unavailable

Check the complete verified email address. DKReminder does not search by partial address or display name.

Device verification error

Exchange requires DKReminder installed from Google Play on a certified device. In Google Play, open Settings → About and check Play Protect certification.

Incompatible reminder

Update DKReminder on both devices. Compatibility depends on the features contained in that reminder; DKReminder will not create a partial copy.

Network or cached-data message

Your last saved journals and permissions can remain visible while refresh is unavailable. Do not repeat a send blindly; check Sent when the connection returns.

Delete the Exchange account

Open Settings → Reminder exchange account → Delete account. For security, DKReminder may ask you to sign in again. Deletion removes your Exchange profile, permissions, registered devices, and your Inbox/Sent journals.

Copies already sent to another user and reminders already created on their device remain. Local reminders on your own device are separate from the Exchange account.

See the public account deletion instructions before deleting permanently.
